Time: 16:55 Course: Windsor
Name: Midrarr Advice: 0.5pt EW (12/1 Most firms)
Form: 563697 Trainer: Chris Dwyer Jockey: Tom Marquand
Summary: Admittedly, this selection takes a lot of trust that MIDRARR is up to the task, after not showing much for quite a long time. He has also switched trainers a few times in the last couple of years, which won’t help.
Having said that, watching his comeback run at Southwell in March, after 123 days off the track, looked very promising – having made the running for most the race, just fading in the last furlong or so, after getting bumped a couple of times.
Midrarr drops in distance here at Windsor, which will definitely help after the way he faded at the end of his last race. He also has previous form on good-to-soft ground, so the conditions shouldn’t be a problem.
The big bonus for me is the fact that Tom Marquand is back on board again, having been on Midrarr for all his 3 career wins to date. Midrarr is now on his lowest career mark of 69, last winning mark was 78, so if he’s going to go close again then the time is now.
Like I like, I’m putting a lot of faith that Midrarr is back to some sort of his old form, but if he is and Marquand can get a good tune out of him, then he looks a very decent each-way bet (small stakes).
