Summary: With the success of picking the 2000 Guineas winner, let’s see if you can do the same with the mares.
All the talk for this race has been the Dermot Weld trained horse, TAHIYRA. She is definitely a worthy favourite, and I do believe she will go close. However, at around 13/8, I think I will take her on at the prices.
Another Irish raider, MEDITATE, looks to have a massive chance for the O’Brien yard. With form figures of 11122 in Class 1 races, O’Brien will be hoping she runs better than his runners yesterday in the 2000 Guineas.
What a story it would be if Frankie Dettori could raise LEZOO for the win again. To win the 2000 & 1000 Guineas in his final year would be phenomenal.
But putting all that aside, the one I think will produce a winning run is DREAM OF LOVE.
I was massively impressed with her last run when finishing second out in Meydan back in January. She really should have won that race; only getting beat by another Godolphin horse, Mawj.
William Buick had her at the rear of the field most of that race, and she came storming home, taking most of the field, but she just couldn’t catch the winner.
I’m sure Buick won’t make the same mistake this time around, and hopefully will produce her at exactly the right time for the win.
The ground does look very tacky with all the rain Newmarket has had, but she has run on soft ground before, so I’m predicting it shouldn’t be a problem.
